Green Force
Green Force tackles the urban landscape with one goal in mind, to turn unused urban landscapes into sustainable green spaces. Host / designer Carson Arthur and his team are dedicated to bringing 'green' back to the hospices, the subway stations, the daycares, the asphalt parks, the downtown buildings and anywhere else the concrete jungle has taken over.

Together with his talented team of designers and gardeners, Carson Arthur seeks out spaces in need of revitalization and implements the best solution. Viewers will learn how to design the perfect community garden and/or how to take a cold, lifeless building and transform it into a living organism. From a Youth Outreach Centre to a Dog Playground and Community Garden, Green Force revives the urban landscape, one 'green' design at a time.

CN Tower
Season 2

Carson Arthur and the Green Force team are helping out one of the world's most recognizable landmarks, the CN TOWER

The tower enjoys over 2 million visitors a year and is surrounded by dozens of community inspired gardens from across Canada, but it's lacking one thing, a truly Canadian garden. This is where Carson steps in and creates a garden that incorporates all the classic Canadian elements, which include, wood, water, lots of stone and of course tons of native plants and trees.

Watch Carson as he builds a babbling brook the runs around a beautiful cedar gazebo and creates custom rain chains to filter the water back into the brook.

Ontario Place
Season 2

In this episode of Green Force, Carson is landscaping the bridge at the entrance to Ontario Place. This 100 foot stretch of asphalt and metal spans over water and is very exposed to the wind and sun so its time to learn all about wind hearty trees and drought tolerant plants.

Watch Carson and his green Force team as they play a little game called "now you see it, now you don't". This episode is all about hiding things in your yard that you can't move but don't want to look at. Carson uses wavy walls and large trees to cover up the eyesores and to push your eye visually through the space. Carson and his team take a flat boring piece of metal and asphalt and turn it into a visually stunning gateway to Ontario Place.

Lansdowne Subway
Season 2

Watch Carson and his Green Force team create a work of art at the entrance of the Lansdowne subway station. Carson’s challenge with this space is how to design a garden that is intended to visually stimulate the passer-bys yet deter people from hanging around. Watch Carson as he takes a dead patch of contaminated soil and concrete and brings it back to life by using large-scale wall murals, soil rejuvenation, and custom metal trellises. Think of it as an outdoor gallery and this transformation as a work of art.

Ward's Island
Season 2

Carson’s challenge with this space is ensuring that the garden is in keeping with its history, a time in history when people traveled by bicycle not by automobile. Watch the Green Force team as they take a neglected park space at the entrance way to Ward’s Island and create a fantastic garden for the inhabitants and visitors of this Island oasis. With a new design in place, Carson removes the old, tired garden and gives it a complete facelift. He adds a Victorian style gazebo with complimenting bike racks and installs a wheel chair accessible water fountain, an automated watering system and tons of plants and trees.

Working Women's Centre
Season 2

The Green Force Team is up to it again! Transforming an asphalt wasteland into a tranquil, welcoming front yard garden for the Working Women’s Community Centre. Watch Carson Arthur and his team as they replace tons of concrete with beautiful circular raised planters, several stone benches and tons of drought-tolerant trees and plants. Look for a great splash of colour with two unique Peek-A-Boo walls and a bronzed statue that becomes the garden’s focal point.

Blake Boultbee Youth Outreach Centre
Season 1

Located in the high density, low-income neighborhood of Jones and Gerrard is the Blake Boultbee Youth Outreach Centre. This centre sees 20 – 40 teenage kids daily and provides services such as, intensive counseling, community outreach, life skills training and crisis intervention.

Green Force wants to help out this not for profit centre by transforming their rundown backyard into an outdoor therapy garden. The challenge with this backyard is that it is fully shaded by 2 large mature trees and the centre needs it to be multi functional.

Watch Carson and his Green force team as they design and build an outdoor oasis that consists of a cooking area, a dining/large meeting area and finally a quiet space for one on one therapy.

Native Child and Family Services of Toronto
Season 1

The Native Child and Family Services of Toronto (NCFST) bought a house to address the needs of the large First Nation's population mostly living in subsidized housing in the local area.

In June of this year the agency purchased a second house that is joined in the back yard to the house they presently run services out of. The problem is that the two back yards combine for 3,170 sq. ft. of pure asphalt. This is where Carson and his Green Force team come in and help this First Nation's population gets back to its roots. Carson is using The Canadian Shield as his design inspiration for this episode, which includes a cascading waterfall that drains into a dry riverbed, tons of natural stone and the planting of the four medicine plants that are the backbone of Native culture.

Trinity Triangle
Season 1

Toronto like all major cities in the world is working towards increasing urban green space to help combat growing green gas emissions.

So Green Force is doing it's part as it takes over a barren traffic triangle located in downtown Toronto and turns it into a beautifully designed garden, complete with hundreds of low maintenance plants, several large scale arbours and custom built houses for birds, butterflies and bats. A garden that no only helps clean the air but also helps calm the souls, of the millions of commuters who drive by this little median everyday.

Watch Carson and his Green Force team transform this large chunk of asphalt into a living piece of urban architecture.

The Wagging Tail
Season 1

Located in the upper beaches area of Toronto there is a state of the art doggie daycare, called The Wagging Tail.

This daycare has become a pillar of the community based on its commitment to our four legged friends. As part of this commitment they accept the overflow dogs from the Humane Society, sponsor local children's sports teams and will go as far as helping you deal with a dying pet. The problem is that the owners of this daycare used up all of their resources in creating the inside of the daycare but ran out of money to finish off the outside.

This is where Carson Arthur and his Green Force team comes in and helps this community based doggy daycare create an outdoor dog playground that is in keeping with the inside. It will be designed around all things dog. What plants are suitable for a dog's play area? What kind of surface is best for their paws? What play structures work and why? This episode will be jammed pack with garden and design ideas for the everyday dog owner and when the construction is complete it will be unlike any dog playground you have ever seen.
